EASY WAYS TO PAY YOUR PREMIUM
You’re welcome to pay your insurance premium in full with your credit or debit card. Alternatively, you may find it easier to pay a 30% deposit with your card and the remainder including interest, in 7 monthly instalments, by direct debit. Charges will be detailed on your quote page.
YOUR NO CLAIMS BONUS
If you already have a No Claims Bonus (NCB), please provide a copy of the proof from your previous insurer when your box is installed. Your NCD must have been earned on a private car or commercial vehicle policy in an EU country within the last two years and can not be in use on another policy. We can’t accept NCD that was earned on a company car or fleet policy.
FRAUD PREVENTION AND CREDIT SEARCHES
When we give you a quotation, we may use data from various sources, including credit reference agencies. Please tell us everything concerning your insurance details when we give you your quote, if we ask for information during your policy’s lifetime, and when you renew.
We want to protect you and our other policyholders, so we thoroughly scrutinise all claims for fraud. We also follow the practice of other insurers in passing information on all claims to the Claims and Underwriting Exchange Register. This is a central database of motor and personal injury incidents which have been reported to insurance companies. Insurance companies use the register to prevent multiple claims fraud and the misrepresentation of claims histories. This helps us keep premiums down for honest policyholders.
THE MOTOR INSURANCE DATABASE
We need to let you know that we will send your policy details to the Motor Insurance Database. This is the central record for all insured vehicles in the UK, which is managed by the Motor Insurers’ Bureau. The police use it for law enforcement. Once you have purchased your policy it can take up to 7 days for your vehicle to appear on the database. You can check if your vehicle details are on the database by visiting www.askmid.com.
HOW WE PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL DATA
The insurer behind Drive Smart, Sabre Insurance Company Ltd, is the Data Controller for any personal data you give to us; this is required by the Data Protection legislation. The information you provide will only be used by us, our associated companies and agents, and by reinsurers for insurance administration.
FINANCIAL SERVICES COMPENSATION SCHEME
You’ll be reassured to know that your Drive Smart policy is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. That means, in the unlikely event that we can’t meet our financial obligations to you, you may be eligible to claim compensation from the scheme.
HOW TO MAKE A COMPLAINT
We aim to deliver the highest level of service to you. However if you’re ever dissatisfied with how we’re managing your policy please tell us as soon as possible. We take all complaints extremely seriously and always try to resolve them promptly.

CAN I DRIVE SOMEBODY ELSE’S CAR?
Drive Smart is a Telematics policy requiring a box to be fitted to your car so that you can be rewarded for safe driving. Therefore cover for driving other cars is not given. If you want to drive somebody else's car, you can always ask the owner to add you as a driver under their policy.
WILL MY PREMIUM INCREASE WHEN I PASS MY DRIVING TEST?
Yes it is likely to increase. The reason is that you’re a new driver on the road and you will more than likely be driving unsupervised. Taking a Pass Plus course can help to reduce your premium.
WHAT IS AN EXCESS?
An excess is the amount you must pay in the event of any claim, regardless of who is to blame for the incident. It varies depending on the car that is covered, the age and experience of the drivers on your policy and if you have opted to take protected No Claims Bonus. Details of your excess will be shown on the premium page when you have completed your quote, and on your Policy Schedule and Policy Wording.
WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED TO PROVIDE?
At the time of installation of your Drive Smart box you must show the engineer your driving licence , your vehicle registration document (V5C) and proof of no claim bonus if applicable. If you have only just purchased your car proof of purchase will be sufficient. If you don't have these documents when the engineer arrives to install your Drive Smart box the installation will not be completed and there will be a fee to pay for the failed installation.
Copies of all other named drivers' licences will also be required and you can upload these from your Drive Smart Dashboard.
